Hey there,
Thanks for subscribing to my meeting notes.
You’ll be receiving sporadic emails full of my notes from conversations with friends. Because I usually discuss new ideas, you’ll receive a sneak peek of everything that’s on top of my mind.
I hope you’ll find my notes valuable.
People won’t migrate to online events straight away; hybrid events will emerge because companies have already seen online value but are not yet ready to fully migrate.
Inverted positioning is an excellent way to explain what you do, i.e., “everyone does X, but we do the opposite of X.”
7-star design is an exercise to create excellent product experience by understanding what would a 7-star experience of using your service look like.
Square’s secret was a deep understanding of merchants; they knew every merchant wanted to provide an experience for their customers and made a beautiful cash machine.
The art of moving fast is decisiveness; it’s better to pick something, execute it quickly, and learn than to spend weeks trying to find the perfect action.
Founder trick themselves twice; they work on fake progress and do low-value work most of the time because a) humans tend to work on autopilot; and b) high-value work is often uncomfortable i.e. calling customers.
A good model for thinking is to intensify contradictions. Instead of asking, “how could one get 674 blog visitors in a week” ask, “how could one get 6,740 (10x more) blog visitors in a day (10x faster).” This usually yields new, better ideas that automatically solve a whole cluster of problems.
Writing down the predicted vs. actual impact of each task is like cooking kebab; one piece of meat is not really a thing, but if you get ten of them and fry it a little bit, it becomes precious.
When the avg check is high, businesses “sell people” by providing a premium concierge experience, i.e., real estate agents.
People care about the experience, not about the product; i.e., no matter how good the pizza is, the experience will be terrible if it’s cold and half an hour late.
Take care,
Vasili
